ജില്ലാ പഞ്ചായത്ത് പ്രസിഡൻ്റ് പി.പി ദിവ്യ, ഡി.വൈ.എഫ്.ഐ സംസ്ഥാന സെക്രട്ടറി വി.കെ സനോജ് എന്നിവരുടെ പേരുകള് പരിഗണനയിലുണ്ടെങ്കിലും എങ്ങനെയെങ്കിലും കണ്ണൂർ സീറ്റ് പിടിച്ചെടുക്കാൻ മുതിർന്ന നേതാക്കളെ കളത്തിലിറങ്ങാനാണ് സി.പി.എം തീരുമാനു കഴിഞ്ഞ ലോക് സഭാതെരഞ്ഞെടുപ്പില് അന്നത്തെ സി.പി.എം ജില്ലാ സെക്രട്ടറി പി.ജയരാജനെ മത്സരിപ്പിച്ചുവെങ്കിലും ദയനീയമായി പരാജയപ്പെട്ടിരുന്നു അരലക്ഷത്തിലേറെ വോട്ടുകള്ക്കാണ് പി. ജയരാജൻ കോണ്ഗ്രസ് സ്ഥാനാർത്ഥി കെ.മുരളീധരനോട് തോറ്റു തുന്നം പാടിയത്.
